airTubeStack provides users with the ability to construct a highly customizable virtual guitar rig, incorporating virtual tube amplifiers, cabs, stompboxes, and effects, all designed for low latency performance. This application has made significant advancements in technology, achieving latencies previously unseen on many key devices operating from Android version 8.1 and upwards. While optimal performance is recommended on devices with 6-8 core processors such as the S20 through S24 series, it is noteworthy that acceptable results can still be achieved on less expensive devices, though performance may vary based on hardware configuration.

The app is compatible with both budget and high-end USB audio interfaces, as well as standard headset inputs found in various smartphones. Utilizing affordable analog adapters like the Irig 2 is also supported for an enhanced experience.

Users can enhance their sound by loading their own impulse response (IR) files into the Cabinet Modeler, saving them in either local storage or the cloud. Additionally, various speaker and microphone options are available, allowing for customization of manufacturer selection, angle, and distance.

The Tube Amp Modeler features an extensive range of tone controls and tube variations, including a compressor effect that mimics the crossover distortion characteristic of traditional tube amplifiers. Users can also monitor their sound through a small oscilloscope integrated within the effects section.

airTubeStack includes an impressive variety of virtual effects such as echo, reverb, chorus, flanger, phaser, gate, multiple filters and EQs, compression, overdrive, and distortion. Furthermore, essential tools like a guitar tuner and metronome are built into the application. The music player function allows users to adjust playback speeds for more effective practice of specific musical licks.

This application reflects a wealth of knowledge amassed over 28 years in guitar speaker simulation alongside 40 years of experience with both virtual and real tube amplifiers. The interface is designed not merely as a replica of traditional setups but optimally caters to the usability standards of the Android operating system.

With the introduction of version 2.5, airTubeStack now includes a significant new feature: the capability to record microphone input (for guitar or voice). Users may record signals that pass through virtual effects while playing or singing. Additionally, it supports the incorporation of music files in different formats (wav, m4a, mp3 converted to wav) during recording. The processed audio or unprocessed signals can be saved as media files (.wav) accessible in the application’s designated folder.

Version 2.6 brings further enhancements, allowing for MIDI footswitch board connectivity via USB or Bluetooth. Users need a third-party app called "Bluetooth Midi Connect" to facilitate the Bluetooth connection. Compatible hardware options like "SoftStep 2" can be managed through toggle modes. The controller data corresponding to virtual effects in the rig can be adjusted accordingly.

New features also include nine selectable tunings within the guitar tuner and an efficient metronome to aid practice sessions.
